AMERSFOORT - At the Krommestraat nr. 22 in Amersfoort on Saturday 3 October, Gallery 't Pleintje opened a new exhibition with the works of Tanja Koelemij.
"I am a very passionate person and I can really surrender myself completely to painting. I think an attitude like that is a prerequisite if you really want to become good. My examples are painters like Monet, van Gogh and Degas but I also enjoy the drawing style of Toulouse-Lautrec. And then there is, of course, Rembrandt. He is a master of many things and especially of painting light. In some of his paintings he uses one stroke of his brush, especially in dark parts of a painting. I really admire that, creating an impression with one single brush stroke. I have lived in Tokyo for three years (from my 26th) and studied Japanese and Kanji (the Japanese writing system). There you learn that Kanji have to be written in a certain order and especially how difficult it is to create, without artifice, one simple perfect stroke. Often I try to evoke more subtle emotions or associations with my work. For this exhibition at gallery 't Pleintje I found a leading theme in the passion of conductors and musician for their music. Conducting is like being a director; a powerful and harmonious feeling. The kind of thing you wish for that only comes true at rare moment in your life and for some reason, for me, never last long enough." Gallery 't Pleintje feels very proud to have this exhibition of such a great artist. Tanja will was present at our festive opening on 3 October. Live-music was presented by top-talent Martine Wijers (violin & piano). The exhibition last until 21 November 2009. The gallery is opened from Wednesday - Saturday and every 3rd Sunday of the month: 13.00 -17.00 hr. You are very welcome! Info: pleintje@heibel.nl Phone: +31 334480473
